This year’s rainy season has been particularly fierce. During this period, the southern part of our country suffered the heaviest rainfall since the flood. Record-breaking rainfall, large, medium and small rivers soaring, floods in many places in the south, landslides, flooded houses and farmland, and traffic interruptions. What countermeasures should excavator users take?
1. The working environment of the excavator is generally not very good, and the road conditions are even worse on rainy days. After the heavy rain, the road was washed into potholes and mud was piled up in many places, the road became abnormally slippery, and even the excavator became strenuous. In severe rainy weather, I suggest that you don’t take risks to start work, safety is always the first priority!
2. If work can be started, pay special attention to those areas where the soil layer is particularly thick. After heavy rains, they will be particularly slippery. You should always pay attention to work in these areas. If it is working at night, the front and rear headlights, working lights, top lights, instrument lights, wipers, etc. of the excavator should be kept in normal operation to ensure safety.
3. Avoid getting too close to the edge of cliffs, ditches and other places. If the ground in these places is soft, the excavator’s own weight and vibration can easily cause the machine to fall or tip over. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a preliminary inspection of the work site before construction.
1. Rainwater is highly corrosive, so the cleaning of the excavator cannot be ignored. In heavy rain, if the important parts of the excavator are not cleaned in time, it will easily cause sludge to accumulate in the gaps on the underside of the vehicle. The chassis is the part closest to the ground and is particularly affected by road conditions. Generally, this part is most prone to rust and spots, and the wheel shell may even be loose and perforated. Therefore, we must pay attention to the clean and anti-rust treatment of the excavator chassis and do a chassis anti-rust treatment.
2. The parking of excavators in rainy season is also particularly important. If possible, it is best to park the excavator in the garage and avoid excessive humidity. If you choose indoor storage, anti-rust operation is very important. If you park for a long time, you should start the machine and drive once a month to charge the battery.
3. After the machine is stored for a long time, the grease on the piston rod should be wiped off, and all parts should be filled with grease. When the machine is parked, the working device should be kept dry and clean. Do not get water in, so as to avoid rust and make the machine inefficient. When parking in the open air, pay attention to check whether the fuel tank and hydraulic fuel tank caps are tightly closed to avoid unnecessary trouble caused by rainwater seeping into the fuel tank.
4. Check the machine, repair worn and damaged parts, and install new parts if necessary.
5. Clean the main air filter element and lubricate all lubrication points. if possible. Retract all cylinders. If it is not possible, apply grease to the exposed hydraulic cylinder rods [enhanced protection], and place tracks on long and stable cushions.
