Air filter

We all know that diesel engines need efficient mixing of air and diesel to perform work. If the dust contained in the air inhaled will directly affect the combustion efficiency of the engine, and even worsen the wear and tear of the components. The phenomenon of engine “pulling cylinder” appears, so the air filter appears .
The air filter is generally installed in front of the engine intake pipe, and is divided into two types, dry and wet, according to the operating environment.

Dry air filter

Dry air cleaners use a dry filter element (such as a paper filter element) to separate impurities from the air. The filter material is filter paper or nonwoven fabric. The end of the filter element is covered with metal or polyurethane, and the shell material is metal or plastic. At the rated air volume flow rate, the original filtration efficiency of the filter element should not be less than 99.5%. Due to the harsh working environment of a heavy vehicle, its air filter must be multi-stage.
The first stage is a swirling pre-filter (such as a blade ring, a swirling tube, etc.), which is used to filter out coarse particles and the filtration efficiency is above 80%.
The second stage of fine filtration is a microporous paper filter (commonly referred to as the main filter), which has a filtration efficiency of more than 99.5%. There is a safety filter element behind the main filter element, which is used to prevent dust from entering the engine when the main filter element is installed and replaced, or when the main filter element is accidentally damaged. The material of the security core is mostly a non-woven fabric, and some also use filter paper.
